Construction Monitoring |
Condor Environmental Planning Services
assists the client in directing development away from sensitive
areas, thus avoiding impacts and minimizing costs. When
impacts cannot be avoided, we develop feasible mitigation
measures, working closely with our clients and regulatory
agencies.
Condor provides terrestrial conservation
planning, endangered species surveys, habitat restoration
planning and implementation, and general wildlife and vegetation
surveys. We offer our clients accurate information, ecosystem
thinking, and sound professional advice. Our ecological
services range from individual species surveys, site assessments,
and mitigation design, to ecosystem level assessment, comprehensive
land management plans, and monitoring.

Sensitive
Species Surveys

Condor conducts surveys
for sensitive plants and animals for small and large projects.
Site conditions, plant communities, and habitat suitability
are evaluated to determine the likelihood of occurrence at
the project site. On the ground surveys are conducted at the
appropriate times of the year when plants are in bloom and/or
wildlife is active to confirm the presence of sensitive species.
Selected sensitive species Condor has surveyed include:
- Alkali Mallow
- American Badger
- Barneby's Beardtounge
- Bell's Sage Sparrow
- Black-flowered Figwort
- Black-footed Ferret
- Blunt-nosed Leopard Lizard
- Burrowing Owl

Condor's extensive and diverse expertise
is utilized to help clients develop and implement Management
Plans for Nature Reserves as well as Resource Conservation Plans.
Examples include the Point Sal Reserve Management Plan, the
Burton Mesa Land Management Plan, Valleyheart Gardens Conservation
Plan, and the Stewardship Plan for the Ventura Hillsides.
Alligator Lizard, Seaside Bird's Beak Cordylanthus
rigidus, Chocolate Lily, Monarch Butterfly, Desert Tortoise
and Horned Lizard, Santa Barbara Ceanothus Ceanothus impressus

Habitat Restoration

Condor develops habitat
restoration plans and manages their implementation. Our work
is based on more than 30 years of experience with large scale
revegetation efforts. We are experienced in the planning and
implementation of restoration of oak woodlands, native grasslands,
wetlands, and riparian corridors, and other habitats.
Our methods include: careful examination of similar sites,
historical research, study of soils, hydrology, geologic
formations, and botanical and wildlife surveys.

GIS Development &
Cartography

Condor utilizes cutting
edge technology for site inventory and impact analysis. Geographic
Information Systems (GIS) significantly enhances our ability
to visualize ecological relationships by combining spatial
data in graphic from with databases. This reveals relationships,
patterns, and trends that might not have been apparent in
tabular or statistical information alone.
The use of GIS incorporates layers of various datasets
allows us to assess impacts to biological resources, derive
spatial models and create custom maps showing the results.
Condor Environmental Planning GIS Services include:
* Access to a variety of existing data sources
* Creation of new data
* Combining new and existing data
* Spatial analysis of raster and vector data
* Data classification and modeling
* Custom cartography and map production
